About the Project

Beirut’s river, once the main water artery of the city, became a leftover bank, and an inanimate dump. In an attempt to revitalize the river and the area around it, which is denudated of greenery, densely industrialized and marginalized, the Riverside Revitalization competition was launched. The concept aimed at recreating an active and healthy space, linking the river to the city and giving back the nature its former glory. It also focused on generating walkways, bridges and public areas where people could gather and wander, rediscovering the area.
