Baalbek's Roman Quarry Touristic Stroll

The cleaning and excavation of Baalbek's Hajar al Hibla site, managed by Jeanine Abdul Massih and archaeologists of the Lebanese University, started in 2014 in collaboration with the DAI. It led to the discovery of a second Roman megalith — the largest human-cut stone in the world — and the uncovering of all the tombs cut into the quarry's bedrock. The project was launched to present the site to the public and create an integrated touristic facility hosting pathways, shelters, and public amenities. We collaborated with archaeologist Jeanine Abdul Massih in the design and site supervision, developing the complete architectural addition in respect and coherence with the existing archaeological remains.
