Beirut's Riverside Revitalization

Year 2014Location Beirut, LebanonStatus Design

Beirut's river, once the main water artery of the city, became a leftover bank and an inanimate dump. In an attempt to revitalize the river and the area around it — denuded of greenery, densely industrialized, and marginalized — the Riverside Revitalization competition was launched. The concept aimed at recreating an active and healthy space, linking the river to the city and giving nature back its former glory. It also focused on generating walkways, bridges, and public areas where people could gather, wander, and rediscover the area.
